A bench of Justices KM Joseph and BV Nagarathna questioned the motive of the PIL filed by lawyer Ashwini Upadhyay, saying it would carry alive these points, “which might preserve the nation on the boil”.

Passing the judgement, the bench stated that the historical past of the nation shouldn’t hang-out its current and future generations.

“Hinduism will not be a faith however a lifestyle. Hinduism is a lifestyle and there’s no bigotry in Hinduism. Do not dig up the previous which can solely create disharmony. Cannot have the nation on the boil,” the Supreme Court docket stated.

Mr Upadhyay, in his petition, had sought path to the Centre to represent a ‘renaming fee’ to revive the “unique” names of historic historic, cultural and non secular locations which had been “renamed” by international invaders.
