
NCPCR chief Kanoongo had alleged assault by a police officer

Days after Nationwide Fee for Safety of Youngster Rights (NCPCR) chairman Priyank Kanoongo alleged that he was assaulted at Tiljila police station, Kolkata police immediately mentioned a case was registered in opposition to the accused police officer.
“That is to state that on the idea of the letter of criticism submitted by Shri Priyank Kanoongo, Chair Particular person of NCPCR, Govt. of India a particular case has been registered vide Tiljala PS Case No. 82 dated 31.03.2023 u/s- 323/353/341/506/34 IPC in opposition to Shri Biswak Mukherjee, Officer-in-Cost of Tiljala PS, Kolkata. The NCPCR chairman on March 31 alleged {that a} police officer beat him up at Tiljila police station when he protested in opposition to them for allegedly recording proceedings of the fee’s probe.
Taking to Twitter, he posted, “Bengal police officer Biswak Mukherjee snatched and beat me up at Tiljila police station in West Bengal.”
He claimed that Bengal police had been surreptitiously recording the investigation of the NCPCR into the homicide of a lady in Kolkata and the rape of a minor in Malda.
“The policemen had been surreptitiously recording the @NCPCR investigation proceedings. They beat me up for protesting,” he added.
He mentioned the group went to the home of the rape survivor on Friday and spoke along with her dad and mom.
“We’re right here to examine. However the state fee chairperson forcefully got here into the home with goons and did not permit us to speak. We now have come right here to the police station, however we aren’t allowed to speak right here additionally,” Mr Kanoongo added.
